Chad Hales is an attorney at the Law Office of Robert E. Hales, APC. After spending thirteen years with two prominent law firms in the San Francisco Bay Area, he joined his father, Robert E. Hales, and his brother, B. Scott Hales, to focus on business and family estate planning, trust creation, trust administration, trustee guidance, and probate services. Chad assists clients in developing comprehensive estate plans, including revocable trusts, and represents clients in trust and probate disputes. He proudly serves clients throughout Southern California, including Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties.
 

Mr. Hales has extensive experience assisting clients avoid probate where possible including Heggstad petitions and, if available, small estate affidavits. If a probate is unavoidable, Mr. Hales can make the probate process streamlined and efficient.

Mr. Hales’ prior experience includes representing clients in a wide range of commercial litigation matters at the administrative, trial court, and appellate levels. He has represented developers, utilities, power marketers, and public entities in cases involving breach of contract, unfair business practices, declaratory relief, and other disputes in both state and federal courts. Additionally, Mr. Hales has extensive experience handling litigation under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the California Endangered Species Act (CESA), the Planning and Zoning Law, the Subdivision Map Act, the Mitigation Fee Act, and the federal Endangered Species Act. This breadth of experience enables him to provide clients with strategic advice and a comprehensive array of options for achieving their litigation goals.

Mr. Hales is admitted to the California State Bar, and is admitted to practice in all state courts, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Court for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California.

Mr. Hales lives in Southern California with his wife and five children.
